- 2025 SCNU 외국인 유학생 문화체험 프로그램’ 운영

국립순천대학교(총장 이병운)는 지난 25일(토), 외국인 유학생 36명과 교직원 6명 등 총 42명이 참여한 가운데‘2025 SCNU 외국인 유학생 문화체험 프로그램’을 경남 창원시와 함안군 일원에서 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 외국인 유학생 간의 유대감을 강화하고, 다양한 체험활동을 통해 유학생들의 한국 생활 만족도를 높이기 위해 마련되었다.

참가자들은 창원 창동예술촌에서 지역 예술문화를 체험하고, 함안박물관을 방문해 한국의 역사와 문화를 배웠다. 이어 함안낙화마을 축제(Haman Nakhwa Village Festival)에 참여하여 한국의 전통 불꽃놀이인 ‘낙화놀이’를 직접 관람하며, 한국의 정서와 지역 축제 문화를 몸소 체험했다.

특히 이번 행사에서는 다양한 국적의 유학생들이 함께 어울려 활발한 교류를 나누었으며, 만족도 조사 결과 평균 4.95점(100점 만점에 98.95점)이라는 높은 평가를 받았다.

유학생들은 “너무 좋았고 또 참여하고 싶다”, “자유시간이 재미있었으며 다음에도 꼭 참가하고 싶다” 등 긍정적인 소감을 전했다.

서강석 국제교류교육본부장은 “이번 문화체험을 통해 외국인 유학생들이 한국의 전통과 문화를 깊이 이해하고, 대학에 대한 소속감과 친밀감을 높일 수 있었다”며 “앞으로도 유학생들의 안정적인 유학 생활과 문화 적응을 위한 다양한 문화 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 국립순천대학교는 ‘외국인 유학생 지역 살아보기’, ‘외국인 유학생 학습튜터링’,‘버디 프로그램’ 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영하며 외국인 유학생들이 한국 생활에 원활히 적응할 수 있도록 아낌없는 지원을 이어가고 있다.

SCNU Hosts “2025 SCNU International Student Cultural Experience Program”

- Promoting cultural understanding and community among international students

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-Woon) announced that it successfully held the 2025 SCNU International Student Cultural Experience Program on Saturday, October 25, with a total of 42 participants, including 36 international students and 6 faculty and staff members, in the cities of Changwon and Haman, Gyeongsangnam-do.

The program was designed to strengthen bonds among international students and enhance their satisfaction with campus life in Korea through engaging cultural experiences. Participants explored Changdong Art Village in Changwon, where they learned about local arts and culture, and later visited the Haman Museum to gain insight into Korean history and heritage. The group also joined the Haman Nakhwa Village Festival, watching Korea’s traditional fire performance “Nakhwa-nori,” an event that allowed them to experience the spirit of Korean community festivals firsthand.

The program fostered active interaction among students of various nationalities and received an impressive average satisfaction rating of 4.95 out of 5 (98.95 points). Participants expressed enthusiastic feedback, saying, “It was wonderful ? I definitely want to join again,” and “The free time activities were fun; I hope to participate next time as well.”

Professor Seo Kang-Seok, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, stated, “Through this cultural experience, our international students deepened their understanding of Korean traditions and culture while feeling a stronger sense of belonging to the university. We will continue to organize diverse cultural programs that help international students adapt smoothly and enjoy a fulfilling life in Korea.”

SCNU currently operates various support programs for international students, including “Living in the Region,” “Study Tutoring,” and the “Buddy Program.” These initiatives aim to help foreign students settle into Korean society while promoting intercultural understanding and connection within the university community.
