- 순천대, 목포대 운영 청소년 문학아카데미 학생들 낭독회 열어

국립순천대(총장 이병운)는 전남 도내 문학 특기자 중·고등학생들로 구성된 ‘청소년 문학아카데미’수강생들이 지난 10월 18~19일 이틀간 목포 북교동 일원에서 열린 ‘2025 목포 골목길 문학축제’에 참가하여 작품 전시 및 낭독 행사를 진행했다고 밝혔다.

전남인재평생교육진흥원(원장 범희승)은 지역 문학 인재를 발굴하고 육성하기 위해 올해 도내 문학 특기자 50명을 선발하여 8월부터 국립순천대와 국립목포대에 위탁해 문학 전문교육을 시행하고 있다.

두 대학의 청소년 문학아카데미는 여름방학 집중교육과 주말 전문교육을 통해 학생들이 창작한 시, 포토포에지, 에세이, 소설 등 총 16점의 작품을 축제 현장에 출품했다. 학생들은‘드로잉카페 화가의 집’야외 전시장에서 작품을 전시했으며, 19일에는 낭독회 행사를 갖고 창작품을 시민들에게 소개했다.

특히 순천대와 목포대에 나뉘어 교육을 받던 학생들이 처음으로 서로 만나 교류하고 친교를 쌓는 의미 있는 자리가 되었으며, 국립순천대 아카데미에서는 학생들과 함께 학부모도 동행하여 지역 문학축제를 즐겼다.

박진솔 학생(여수 율촌중학교, 3년)의 어머니는 “딸아이가 문학축제에서 자신이 쓴 단편소설의 도입 부분을 낭독한다고 해서 응원하러 왔다. 축제 규모가 크진 않지만, 오히려 그 소박함이 글을 쓰는 사람들의 축제 같다”고 소감을 전했다. 엄지민 학생(순천 강남여고, 1년)은 “시와 소설 낭독은 또래라 그런지 공감도 되고 재미있었다.”고 소감을 전했으며 남준서 학생(순천매산고, 3년)은 “빈집을 활용한 전시 공간에서 시 낭독을 하는 체험이 인상적이었다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 청소년 문학아카데미는 연말까지 문예창작학전공 교수들의 지도로 문학 전문교육뿐 아니라 작가초청강연, 문학기행, 작품집 발간 등 다채로운 활동을 이어갈 예정이다.

SCNU Students from the “Youth Literature Academy” Participate in the Mokpo Alley Literature Festival

- Joint reading event held by students from SCNU and MNU’s Youth Literature Academy

Sunchon National University (SCNU, President Lee Byung-Woon) announced that students from its Youth Literature Academy, composed of middle and high school students with outstanding literary talent in Jeollanam-do, took part in the 2025 Mokpo Alley Literature Festival held on October 18?19 in Bukgyo-dong, Mokpo. The students presented their creative works through exhibitions and live reading sessions.

The Jeonnam Talent and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute (Director Beom Hee-Seung) launched the program this year to discover and nurture young literary talents in the province. Fifty selected students have been receiving specialized literary education since August, jointly hosted by Sunchon National University and Mokpo National University.

Through intensive summer and weekend classes, students from both universities created and presented 16 literary works, including poems, photo poetry, essays, and short stories. Their works were displayed at the Painter’s House Drawing Caf? outdoor gallery, and on October 19, they held a public reading session, sharing their writings directly with festival visitors.

The event also marked the first meeting between academy students from SCNU and MNU, offering a meaningful opportunity for exchange and friendship. Many parents accompanied their children from the SCNU academy to experience the regional literary festival together.

One parent, Mrs. Park, whose daughter attends Yulchon Middle School in Yeosu, said, “My daughter read the opening passage of her short story at the festival, and I came to cheer her on. The event may be small, but that simplicity makes it feel like a true celebration for writers.”

Eom Ji-Min, a first-year student at Suncheon Gangnam Girls’ High School, shared, “Listening to poetry and stories written by students my age was relatable and inspiring,” while Nam Jun-Seo, a third-year student at Suncheon Maesan High School, added, “Reading poems aloud in an exhibition space made from an old house was a very memorable experience.”

The Youth Literature Academy will continue through the end of the year, guided by professors from SCNU’s Department of Creative Writing. The program includes advanced literary training, author lectures, literary excursions, and the publication of a student anthology.
